Back to RJH Research Home Page Customizable Security GuideThis is version 3.0 of the Customizable Security Guide, updated as of May 2006 to reflect changes in classification procedures, document controls, and security threats since the previous version in 2001. This Security Guide brings security awareness into the Internet Age. When you install the Security Guide on your network, almost everything your personnel might want to know about security, or that you might want them to know, is available on their computer desktop with a few clicks of their mouse. And you can customize it, if desired, to fit your organization's specific needs. Like a Swiss Army knife, this Security Guide has a tool for almost every security awareness need -- a comprehensive, user-friendly reference work for all personnel, source material for security professionals preparing a briefing on any subject, and articles for newsletters. It also provides a link to the Automated Briefing System, a do-it-yourself tool for using the Security Guide to develop your own automated security awareness briefings. The Security Guide covers procedures for protecting classified and other sensitive information, standards of personal conduct, ethics regulations, reporting requirements, employee assistance information, foreign espionage targets and methods, risks associated with foreign travel and terrorism, counterintelligence indicators, spy stories, computer vulnerabilities, vulnerability to communications intercept and eavesdropping, etc. This product was developed by the Defense Personnel Security Research Center (PERSEREC). It has been reviewed by DoD Public Affairs and approved for public release. It will be updated periodically with updates posted on this site. Some users of this Security Guide have invested substantial time and effort in customizing the previous version of this program. Any organization that believes it may be more efficient to make changes to their existing program rather than download the updated version should contact us as described below. Questions about this program should be directed to Richards Heuer by e-mail at richards.heuer.ctr@osd.pentagon.mil or by phone at (831) 657-3008
